Naoya Edahiro was born in Sapporo, Japan, in 1976. After junior high school, he started studying industrial design and contemporary art in a college in Sapporo. During this time, he also started working as a freelance designer for engineering design firms. He graduated and received a Bachelor of Design in industrial design in 1999. Until 2004, he worked as a product developer (industrial and engineering designer) in an architectural hardware manufacturing company in Tokyo. After that, Edahiro left Japan for the United States to open new doors and advance his career. Since 2006, he has been working in an industrial design firm in San Francisco.
